Who will be the employee of the year?

This summer will be very special for my family as our daughter Kathryn (Kathy) is marrying Phill on 9 August.The wedding ceremony will take place at St Andrew’s church in Sonning with the reception being held at The Swan at Streatley.We are all excited by our thoughts of the occasion and look forward to a memorable event. I feel sure all our readers will bless the bride and groom and wish them well for the future.

Mobile ski slope pulls in the crowds

The word is spreading about the excellent facilities offered by John Nike Leisuresport Limited thanks to the travels of a mobile ski slope which is helping to promote the company at events in the south of the country this summer.
In Berkshire, it will be the company’s fourth appearance at the Newbury Show on 20 and 21 September where the slope (below) 10 metres long, two metres high and three metres wide which offers skiing and snow bobbing to visitors, will be joined by Octagon Toyota (see pages 6 and 7).
The slope has already taken centre stage this year at the Wokingham May Fayre where money was raised for the Wokingham Lions from a £1 fee for a 20 minute starter lesson.
June saw the slope at the Wokingham Carnival and fête where it was joined by members of the Thames Valley Tigers Basketball Team and a basketball hoop, raising the squad’s profile in the local community.
The Berkshire community is not the only one to benefit from John Nike Leisuresport Limited’s portable facilities the slope has also spent time in Devon.
It was set up at the Lord Mayor’s Day at Plymouth Hoe on 26 May and the previous day for the Plymouth half marathon the first time it had been at this event. It was very popular on both occasions and generated interest from local television and newspapers.
Locals were also given the opportunity to use the slope when it visited the town centre for two days in June offering free skiing and snow bobbing.
