TV's Hunter visits Plymouth kids

Last summer, school children taking part in John Nike Leisuresport Plymouth's multi-activity courses had the chance to meet a special guest - ex-TV Gladiator, Hunter.
Hunter was at the centre to film a health and fitness programme for Sky TV at the same time as children from schools in Devon and Cornwall were trying out winter sports. After Hunter had finished filming, he took some time out to chat to the kids. The producers of the show were so impressed with the children's ability that they shot some extra footage of them on the slopes. The programme is due to be broadcast later this year.
Around 3500 children from 36 schools in Devon and Cornwall learnt to ski, snowboard,snow-bob and toboggan on last year's multi-activity courses. If you are interested in finding out more about what's on offer this year, please call Plymouth ski and snowboard center on 01752 600220.

Well, again the Nike Group of Companies has been busy and there are twelve pages for you to read to keep abreast of our news. The Swan at Streatley is now fully under the control of Nike Group Hotels with Alan Blenkinsopp ensuring any necessary changes are happening rapidly - see the report on page five and you'll discover how determined we are to make this hotel into the top quality establishment that both its location and history deserve.
With Easter rapidly approaching, our leisure outlets are getting ready for the Bank Holiday weekend. Whether you wish to see the countryside with a visit to Beale Park or Legoland, or to simply enjoy yourself in some other way, our centres are there to provide fun and enjoyment. Skate, ski or slumber - page seven has more details of what is available. On the back page our fantastic competition gives you the chance to win a short break at the Coppid Beech Hotel. Go on - compete!
It is always a joy to see young people trying and achieving, and it is a top priority for the Nike Group of Companies to offer our customers the service they deserve. To be able to do this, our Personnel Department selects, employs and trains good quality staff. Even school children are provided with work experience. You can read all about this on page six. I am also delighted to see the John Nike Leisuresport Study Support Centre up and running.
Our professional sportsmen in the Bees and Tigers have been meeting a lot of youngsters through the schools and community incentives (see page three). The players have been generous in giving up their time for this worthwhile cause during the playing season. Although the season is drawing to a close there are still plenty of games to see. With both teams lying second in their respective leagues we are hoping for some silverware successes this year. So why not join our enthusiastic supporters at the matches - you will find immense entertainment and enjoyment through being with us.
As always, there seems to be so much to mention. I want to tell you about Berkshire Golden Youth and the planned Golden jubilee events and so much more but my column is curtailed by space availability. So, briefly, my congratulations to everyone involved with Alice in Winter Wonderland on Ice - a truly magnificent show. My good wishes for the speedy recovery of Simon Waller so that he may begin his quest for the 2006 Olympics. My gratitude for the honesty of the member of staff who found and handed in a valuable and sentimental watch, much to the delight and joy of one of our customers.
